Location and boundaries
- The Central Visayas Region lies at the center of the Philippine
archipelago between the islands of Luzon and Mindanao.
- It is bounded on the north by the Visayan Sea; on the east by the
Camotes Sea and the Camiga Channel; on the south by the Mindanao Sea;
and on the west by the province of Negros Occidenal.
- Cebu is the second largest urban economic center in the country

- The province has a modern containerized international seaport
that links the province to the rest of the world.
- Several fastcraft sea services regularly ply the Cebu,
Tagbilaran, Dumaguete and Siquijor routes.
- Cebu is base to over 80% of the inter-island shipping capacity
of the Philippines, making it the country's busiest port. Its
multipiered port services 44 local shipping lines and 13
international carriers/shipping lines. Efficient container handling,
trucking and storage services are also available.
