Location and boundaries
- The region lies in the eastern most border of the Philippine
Archipelago. Its two main islands, Leyte and Samar, are connected by
the San Juanico Bridge, the longest bridge in Southeast Asia.
- It consists of 6 provinces (Leyte, Biliran, Southern Leyte, Samar,
Eastern Samar and Northern Samar), 4 cities (Tacloban, the regional
capital, Ormoc, Maasin and Calbayog), 139 municipalities and 4,390
barangays.

- Tacloban DZR Airport: serviced by Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific Air and Air Philippines
with six daily flights between Manila and Tacloban daily.

- regional seaport of Eastern Visayas is located in Tacloban City
which has 10 berths and with port entry functions that services
international as well as domestic routes
