Location
Ilocos Region is strategically located at the northern tip of
Luzon Island along the International Sea Lanes.
It is bounded on the north by the Province of Cagayan, on the east
by Kalinga, Apayao, Mountain Province, Benguet and Nueva Viscaya. The
provinces of Tarlac and Zambales are situated on the south of the
Ilocos Region and the South China Sea on the west.
Ilocos Region is directly accessible by land and air transport.
Ilocos can be reached from Metro-Manila via the Manila North Road.
From Ilocos, one can travel via the Bugallon-Alaminos-Olongapo Road to
go to Subic and the Province of Zambales.
Ilocos Region is approximately 4 hours by land from Metro-Manila
and less than one hour by air.
Infrastructure
and facilities
- The region is the site of four agro-industrial estates of Northern
Luzon:
- The Laoag Economic Zone
- Poro Point Free Port and Special Economic Zone
- Mabini Industrial Estate
- Bacnotan Agri-Industrial Estate
- It has one international airport in Laoag City
- Domestic flights are serviced by the San Fernando Airport, Vigan
Airport, and Lingayen Airport.
